Privacy Policy

Effective September 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how 1889 Consulting Group, LLC ("Trading Post," "we," "us") collects, uses and shares personal information when you use the Trading Post website, marketplace and related services (the "Service"). It should be read with our Terms of Service.

1. What we collect

Information you give us.

  • Account: your name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), whether you buy, sell or both, and the date and version of the Terms you accepted.
  • Profile: an optional display name and avatar image, which other users can see.
  • Listings: product titles, descriptions, sample outputs, files and version history you upload as a seller.
  • Communications: messages you send to other users, forum posts, comments, reactions, reviews and ratings, reports you file, and support tickets, including any page address you attach to one.
  • Requests: refund requests, download requests and the notes you write with them.

Information created as you use the Service.

  • Transactions: what you bought or sold, when, the amount, our fee, refund status and invoice details.
  • Downloads: how many times you have downloaded each version of a product you bought.
  • Activity: when you last signed in, whether you have read a message, and one-time sign-in codes (which expire after 10 minutes).
  • Technical data: your IP address, browser type and the requests your browser makes, which our servers and hosting provider process to deliver the Service and protect it from abuse.

Information from Stripe.

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe gives us identifiers for your customer or connected account, whether a seller account can accept charges and receive payouts, and the status of payments, refunds and invoices. Identity and bank details you give Stripe when setting up a seller account stay with Stripe.

2. How we use it

  • To create and secure your account, including emailing you sign-in codes.
  • To run the marketplace: list products, process purchases, deliver downloads, pay sellers and handle refunds.
  • To let users message each other and take part in the forum and reviews.
  • To answer support tickets and other requests.
  • To enforce our Terms: investigate reports, prevent fraud and abuse, and moderate content.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • To send you service messages about your account, purchases and sales, and changes to our terms.

We do not sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles. We do not use your content to train AI models.

3. What other users see

Your display name (or, if you have not set one, your first and last name) and avatar appear on your listings, reviews, forum posts and comments, and to anyone you message. Your email address is never shown to other users. When you buy from a seller, that seller can see the purchase and any messages or requests you send them.

4. Who we share it with

  • Stripe, which processes payments, seller onboarding and payouts under its own privacy policy.
  • Service providers that host our servers and files and deliver our email, acting on our instructions.
  • Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, or when needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or Trading Post.
  • A successor if Trading Post is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use only the cookies needed for the Service to work: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a security cookie that protects forms against cross-site request forgery. Your browser's local storage also remembers your light or dark theme and basic details of the signed-in account, so pages load without flicker. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this Policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, it is closed at once and your name, email address, avatar and password are erased. Your listings leave the marketplace. Posts, comments, reviews and messages you wrote stay visible to the people they were shared with, shown as "Deleted user." Records of purchases, sales, payments and invoices are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is generally seven years. If you want content you posted removed as well, email us before deleting your account. We may keep limited information longer where we need it to resolve disputes, prevent fraud or enforce our Terms.

7. Your choices and rights

From your profile page you can, at any time: update your name, display name and avatar; download a copy of your data as a JSON file; and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to:

  • know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • have your information deleted;
  • object to or restrict certain uses of it; and
  • not be treated differently for exercising these rights.

For anything the profile page does not cover, email [email protected] from the address on your account. We will verify your identity before acting, and respond within the time the law requires (usually 30 to 45 days). You may use an authorised agent, who must show your written permission.

8. Visitors from the EEA and UK

If you use the Service from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, 1889 Consulting Group, LLC is the controller of your personal information. We rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (running your account and transactions); our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service, preventing fraud, and moderating content); and legal obligations (tax and accounting records). Your information is processed in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Security

We protect your information with measures including hashed passwords, one-time email codes at sign-in, encrypted connections in transit, and access limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

10. Children

The Service is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The effective date at the top shows the current version.
